The KTM 690 SMC R raises the bar for street hooligans. The revised chassis and styling are boosted by the latest 690 LC4 motor and an updated electronics package, so whether you express your tarmac-sliding talent on mountain roads or on the track, you’ll be drifting into the future with a maxed-out grin and your veins coursing with adrenaline.
Designed from the very start to use all the power of its 693cc four-stroke single engine, it will slide the rear wheel confidently when you demand all of its 74 HP and 54 lb-ft of torque. Or, if you want it to be more civilized, it will also carve that same corner with surefooted balance.
I bought an 07 690 SM with a a '13/'14 690 engine/wiring harness. I need to try and make it work together but it is hard without the diagram this one will be identical to 08 sm i bet . the 07 sm was first gen, its a little simpler im sure, for example the 07 sm does not have map switch and no provision for it.
KTM’s 690 Enduro R is a dual sport that’s ready for any terrain with a 690cc engine, electronics, and large tires capable of eating it all up. 74 hp @ 8,000 rpm: Torque: 54.2 lb.-ft
The DRZ needs another 20 hp, another gal of gas capacity and a 6th gear. on the other hand, its less than half the cost of a 690. There is no comparison. I’ve owned a DRZ and now a 690 enduro. There is 30 hp difference. Off road, both fun. On road, ones a joy, the other a way to get there.
